Harris Teeter at Willowhaven Grand Opening

The grand opening celebration continues at the new Harris Teeter at the corner of Guess Rd and Horton Rd in Durham. This store opened in January and replaces the longstanding neighborhood Harris Teeter across the street. I have visited this new store a few times and am happy to see that they have expanded their gluten free offerings. Because of the increased shelf space they are able to stock more products. Some that landed in my grocery cart recently were Vans frozen waffles, Cedarlane garden vegetable enchiladas, Amy's baked ziti kids meal, Ians's alphabet shaped potato fries, bionature gluten free spaghetti, Bob's Red Mill rice flour, and gluten free rice crackers.

Several products are marked on the shelves with a green gluten free tag to help consumers identify them. Harris Teeter does not provide a listing of their gluten free products at the store or on line. I called their customer service number and was told that is because products may change often. Customers may put in a special request for an item and if it is in the main warehouse it can be shipped to one's local store. However there also is not a list of available products to choose from. So, we can ask for our favorite products and with enough requests they may begin to stock those items.

As part of the Grand Opening Celebration the Pharmacy will be offering a Health Awareness Clinic on Tuesday February 10th, 9:00-1:30 and 2:30-6:30. The clinic will offer cholesterol, blood pressure, and glucose screening and determine body fat analysis and arterial stiffness. These are all free with a VIC card.
